With spring
approaching there is no better place to escape to, than Richmond.
With its array of bars, restaurants, riverside pubs and beautiful
park, it certainly has a lot to offer.
Don Fernando's
is a great Spanish restaurant which is worth stopping at before
heading down to the river to continue the evening with a few drinks.
It has a long wooden tiled bar with a range of brandies and sherries
to sample and a good choice of wine and beers.
Dinner was a
selection of tapas: gambas, albondigas, fabada, patatas bravas,
tortilla española and chorizo. With such a variety to pick
and choose from it's quite hard not to get carried away! Everything
was delicious, particularly the fabada, a rich stew, typical to
Asturias, of butter beans, chorizo, morcilla, onions and garlic.
Dessert was
tarta de manzana - apple tart with a thin layer of pastry. Spanish
tapas restaurants aren't generally noted for their desserts, and
even though average, the tarta was the perfect end to a pleasant
dinner in Richmond.
